Sergei Prokofiev

Cello Sonata in C Major, Op. 119

The sonata has three movements. The world premiere was held in 1950 in Moscow Conservatory. This sonata is one of the latests masterpieces of the composer and reflects a simplicity and poetry. Miaskovsky defined it as a “miraculous piece of music”.

 

Chopin

"Polonaise Brillante" for cello and piano, Op. 3

Chopin composed this piece in 1829 when he was 19. This polonaise is one of the few works of concertizing music composed by Chopin. Published in 1833, this romantic era piece is dedicated to the famous Austrian cellist of his time, Joseph Merk.
