For the Weekend Classics of the 46th İstanbul Music Festival, music lovers gather in the lush gardens of Austrian Culture Office in Yeniköy, İstanbul for the Koehne Quartet concert. Koehne Quartet plays Haydn’s orientalist string quartet Quinten; the first string quartet that Mozart dedicated to Haydn, Spring; the string quartet that Borodin composed for his wife, Nocturne; and finally Dvořák’s Waltz and 2 of Kreisler’s 3 Old Viennese Dances. A joyful saturday on the Bosphorus!

ABOUT WORK


Mozart composed this piece in 1782 when he was still in Vienna. This is the first of 6 string quartets that Mozart dedicated to Haydn and it seems that this piece has influenced Haydn's later quartet.
