ABOUT WORK

Francis Poulenc

Sonata for oboe & piano, FP 185

Francis Poulenc composed Sonata for oboe & piano in 1962. One year prior to his death, he adapted this piece to the unforgettable masterpiece of Prokofiev: Romea and Juliet. The sonata has unusual movements and leaves a dark impression.

As a biografical analysis of his own work, Poulenc states that his homosexuality stands as the epicenter of his composition.
